Mini Macaroon Keychain Pattern

Hello everyone!
What better way to kick off my new blog than with a cute freebie? This little keychain is perfect for a purse key ring, or even just as individual macaroons.

White, Pink, Green, and Blue Size 4 yarn (Red Heart, Vanna’s Choice, CraftSmart, ect.)
Size 3.5 mm Hook
Yarn Needle, Stuffing, Scissors, Ribbon
Optional: Cardboard, Charm, Ball Chain, Hot Glue Gun

Sc – Single Crochet
2sc – Increase Stitch
Sl St – Slip Stitch

This is worked in joined rounds (Sl st at the end of each round) but can be done in joined with slightly different results. Let’s get started on our mini sweet treats!

Macaroon Shells (x2)
Start with Macaroon Color and Magic Ring 6
Rnd 1: 2sc in each St (12)
Rnd 2: Sc, 2sc in next St (18)
Rnd 3: Sc 18
Rnd 4: Switch to White, lightly Sl St in the Backloops ONLY. When done, cut and weave in end.

Optional: The cardboard with help the macaroons have a flatter shape, close to what they look like in real life. Cut out two circles that will fit comfortably at the bottom of the shell (mine was a little less than an inch). Cut a whole in the middle (like a donut) so we can later sew the macaroons together.

Next we are going to grab the white yarn again. Holding both shells, insert your hook in the Front Loop of the bottom shell, and then the Back Loop of the top shell (see pictures above). Sl St 18, stuffing when there are only 4 stitches left. Once done, cut and weave in the tail. Create two more macaroons.

Now that you’ve got your three macaroons done time to join them. Grab some ribbon, making a loop at the top. If adding a charm, add it to the ribbon at this point. Sew the lose ends through all three macaroons so they are free at the bottom. Determine how much ribbon you’d like at the top, then knot it . If you’d like the macaroons to be more stationary, add a little hot glue between macaroon layers. Tightly knot the free ribbon at the bottom, then sew in the ends. Add on any extra decorations, and you are good to go!

I hope you enjoyed my macaroon pattern, I’d love to see your results! ❤ More freebies will come in the future. Thanks for checking out my new blog, have a great day!
